Q: Why do you race?
A: I started racing in high school, in the late 80s, and have just never found anything else I like doing more. Even on my bad days, ripping around on a bicycle makes me happy.
Q: Years riding vs years racing?
A: I started riding seriously in 1987, and got my first racing license in 1988 for my 16th birthday. So a really long time.
Q: Favorite postrace meal?
A: Sit down Mexican.
Q: Describe TRP in 4 words
A: Can’t stop without them!
Q: Finish the sentence “I ride bikes …”
A: because it fixes everything.
Q: Best advice ever received?
A: Do what you can, when you can.
Q: Worst racing advice ever received?
A: Attack early.
Q: Favorite subject in school?
A: English literature. I have a bachelors in English and African American Studies, and likely would have gone on to teach if cycling hadn’t sidetracked me.
